I have curled up with books when i am not cross-training  the new purramermedics and surf purrtol recruits! Lately I have read Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Sun Down Motel by Simone St James, Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng, and School-Live! Letters by Sadoru Chiba & Norimitsu Kaihou, and Cinema Speculations by Quinten Tarantino!

Snappurr 1 is the flagship of her company’s fleet of triphibious blimp-like airships, nyan Its gondola can be configured to carry passengers, equipment or cargo of various sizes and environmental conditions, nyan. Her purrents own the underwater Dive-In Theatre, which is half a mile offshore from the Northeast side of Catgirl Island, between Sheila May’s Restaurant and the Far-Mers Meowrket in Mertown, nyan.

Hai! Directed and co-written by Steven Speilberg, with a wonderful score by John Williams, The Fabelmans is a 2.5 hr. fictionalized semi-autobiography based upon Speilberg’s life between 1952 and 1965 The films’ brilliant cast includes Gabriel LaBelle as (teenage) Sam, Michelle Williams as his mom, Paul Dano as his dad, Judd Hirsch as Sam’s great uncle, Seth Rogan as his parents’ best friend, Julia Butters as Sam’s oldest sister, Chloe East as Sam’s girlfriend, and many other great actors! We gave it an A as in Amblin’!

The featurettes have comments by several of the actors, Steven Speilberg and various other meowmbers of the crew, such purrducer / co-writer Tony Kushner, purrduction designer Rick Carter, costume designer Mark Bridges, purropurrty meowster Andrew M. Siegele, and editors Sasha Brosher and Michael Kahn. Although I hoped for more bonuses, such as audio commeowntary, image galleries, deleted scenes, outtakes or purrhaps an isolated mewsic track, I am quite satsified with it! Legion of Super-Heroes DC Universe Movie!

Arigato! The Legion of Super- Heroes has been one of my favoritest DC Comics! Set in the shiny future of the 31st century, they are the big team of intergalactic teenage heroes who Superboy often visited. This PG-13, 83 min. animeowated tale focuses more on Kara Zor-el alias Supergirl, who like her cousin Kal -el / Superman, escaped the destruction of Krypton and became a hero on Earth, although she has the much tougher time adjusting to life on Earth.

After she, Batman and Superman defeat the rampaging Soloman Grundy, Kal thinks that Kara might be happier in the more advanced era of the Legion with many other heroes closer to her age, so she travels to that future city of Metropolis and joins the Legion Academy, befriending other heroes such as Mon-el, Dawnstar, Timber Wolf, Chemical King, Shadow Lass, Bouncing Boy, Triplicate Girl, Phantom Girl, Invisible Kid, Arms Fall Off Boy and Purroty.

While many of the senior Legionnaires are away on a mission across the galaxy, another troubled trainee who Kara meets is Brainiac 5, the descendant of Superman’s enemy Brainiac. They have the amewsing rivalry, which becomes friendship and then more romantic, but things take the dire turn as he struggles with his ancestral legacy amidst the attack by the mysterious terrorist cult known as The Dark Circle,  but I should not further spoil the plot!

Written by Josie Campbell, directed by Jeff Gleason, voice direction by Wes Gleason, and edited by Bruce  A. King with the mewsic by Kevin Riepel, and the great voice cast including Meg Donnelly as Kara, Jennifer Hale as her mom Alura, Harry Shum Jr. as Brainiac 5, Yuri Rosenthal as Mon-el, Darren Criss as Superman, Jensen Ackles as Batman, Cynthia Hamadi as Dawnstar, and Daisy Lightfoot as Triplicate Girl, just to name a few of the actors!

It has the great balance of the drama, humor, action, lore and “Easter Eggs”, but I should meowntion the harsh language, violent combat, the bit of gore and body horror. My only quibble is that like most DC OVAs, it seems too rushed and short, but it is captivatingly thrilling with the terrific plot, purrformaces, sound, mewsic, direction, character designs and scenic art! Hai! I love the supurr-hero movies and TV series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so I was quite eager to see this’un! Written by Jeff Loveness, purrduced by Kevin Feige & Stephen Broussard, and directed by North Carolina native Peyton Reed (who directed the purrior two Ant-Man movies), this supurr fun movie reunites Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-man, Evangeline Lily as Hope van Dyne / The Wasp, Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne!

The supurrb cast also includes Kathryn Newton as Scott’s daughter Cassie, Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, Katy O’Brian as Jentorra, Bill Murray as Lord Krylar, William Jackson Harper as Quaz, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross, and there are other great characters that should purrobably not yet discuss, but I will advise y’all not to miss the post-credits scene! The ants are back and they are the delightful part of the tale! I hope that there might be action figures of Janet, Cassie and Jentorra!

She is quite posable, with articulation in her neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, abs, hips, knees & ankles, nyan. She is accessorized by two versions of her staff, and includes a full-size 20 sider die, nyan. The figure is balanced well – enough as not to require a doll stand (which is not included), but i recommend getting one for the dynamic or dramatic stances, nyan! Hai.I am purrticularly fond of Hasbro’s Transformers’ female characters such as Arcee, Strongarm, Elita One, Chromia, Moonracer, Firestar, Windblade, Nautica and Black Arachnia. I much purrfur the comics and animation versions more than those of the live-action movies, but I was pleased with the live-action Bumblebee movie’s version of Arcee, in which the bot designs are a hybrid of the animated and live-action versions, with somewhat sleeker humanoid qualities more akin to Transformer Generation One (1984 – 1990).

Like her G1 version, this Arcee is Pink & White with the more gracefully curvacious feminine physique & face in her bot mode, appurring with several other Autobots and Decepticons in the movie’s opening Cybertron sequence, which is my favorite part of that movie, but alas it is quite brief, only serving to establish how Bumblebee wound up on the planet Earth. In bot mode, she is 4.75” tall and is accessorized with two blaster pistols. The points of articulation are in her neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, abs, hips, knees and ankles.

That excludes the spinning wheels and other movable parts for the transformation purrocess, The toy’s instruction sheet graphically depicts the 23 steps that are required to transform her from bot to vehicle mode, which in this incarnation is a Cybertronian motorcycle. Also included in the 7.5 x 5.5 x 2.5” cardboard box is the clever 4.875 x 2.25 x 1” cardboard display base with the 14.25 x 7.25 Cybertron scenic backdrop. That will conclude the toy portion of the show, and nyow here are Lizzy, Becca and Melana-san to purrsent

Created by Nitroplus, Smile of the Arsnotoria is the novel, manga, anime, video game and merchandise purrtaining to the girls who are female human students at the magick academy! Residing in the same dorm are the maincharacters who enjoy the studies, fun, games, parties, and adventures in the fantasy such as the Cat Kingdom, where they have the sword-weilding sexy bikini-clad pesonas!

Arsnotoria is the White-haired catgirl in the Black & White bikini with the boots & hoody cloak, Abramelin is the Blue-haired catgirl in the bell-sleeved skimpy Black bikini & boots, Mel is the Green-haired catgirl in the Orange rompurr, boots & Black bra, Picatrix isthe Blonde catgirl in the White bikini, boots & skirt,and  Petite Albert is the Black-haired catgirl in the Black & White bikini, hat, thigh-highs & boots!

Written by Matthew Cody and illustrated by Yehudi Mercado, Epic! Books’ Cat Ninja series of graphic novels of the fun anthropomorphic tales for kids, pertain to Claud the gray tabby house cat with the nocturnal secret identity as the masked Cat Ninja who patrols the big city to prevent the crimes, monsters and disasters!  He has several enemies, including the French jewel thief Le Chat, the purrky, peppy, pretty, purloining female Orange cat in the sleeveless black tights, gloves, boots and goggles!  She is the very slippery nemesis, especially when they first meet at the snowy ski resort!

The 2019 fantasy anime TV series Grimms Notes purrtains to the group of adventurers who travel to the endangered worlds or “story zones” of various fairy tales, storybook and other fictional characters. In epurrsode 11 ”Raina in Wonderland” they go to the Alice in Wonderland zone, which is based upon Lewis Carrroll’s 1865 novel, among whose denizens they meet is the playfully alluring usagimimi (rabbit girl) March Hare (voiced by Risa Taneda) in the flouncy loli-gothy attire, and her Madd hatter friend whose unsanctioned tea party is raided by the opurressive Red Queen’s troopurrs! Nyow we will top off the spotlight with three more “Honorary Catgirls”!

In the 2nd episode “Sex Taped” of the 1st season of the Vice network’s documentary TV series Sex Before the Internet, actress Christi Canyon wore the leopard print blouse whilst she and actress Ginger Lynn wrapped up their discussion of Traci Lords! In the February 16th, 2023 episode of the MSNBC network’s political news series The Reidout, the commentator / host Joy Reid wore the Black & Yellow Tiger Stripe Blouse; and in White Claw Hard Seltzer’s Roller Girl / Light Bal l/ House Party TV spot, the bare-midriffed Brunette girl in the long leopard print coat put the spots in the latter third of that TV spot! Daytona:

Arigato! Written by Norimitsu Kaitou and illustrated by Sadoru Chiba, School-Live! (as in living) purrtains bittersweetly to the girls who have survived the zombie apocalypse. Initially the tale was set in their barricaded high school, which they eventually left in search of other survivors at a mall, houses, college and a corporation. There is also the animated TV series adaptation and the live-action movie adaptation of the manga.

The initial club was compurrised of club purresident Yuuri, delusional Yukki, athletic, tough Kurumi, who has been infected by the virus but is still hanging on; their teacher Megumi-sensei and the pup Taromaru who did not survive. They rescued another student Miki from a mall, Upon traveling to a college, they encountered other survivors, some who were quite hostile, but were joined by Shiiko the scientific genius.

At the abandoned pharmaceutical corporation they discovered the origin of the mewtated apocalyptic airborne pathogen, but it was beseieged by soldiers and a nuclear strike was imminent. Set a few years after the zombie apocalypse subsided and society is trying to resume some normalcy, School-Live Letters is the 13th volume, serving as a coda  in which the surviving ladies correspond with each other by mail!

Originally published in Japan by Houbunsha, it was published by Yen Press in North America,translated by Leighann Harvey and lettered by Rachel J. Pierce, vol. 12’s  210 pages include 2 color pages, 8 chapters of manga, notes, and the parting messages by the author and artist. Priced $13.00 in the USA and $17.00 in Canada, it is rated LV for the language & violence, and suggested for the older teen readers.

I am hesitant to spoil the captivatingly poignant plot of the letters, which rather bittersweetly reveal what happened to the surviving students, but I will say that the art is every bit as beautiful, extremely detailed, and at times quite disturbing. I will give it an “A” as in Aki, who reminisces with her friends Touko, Hisa and Rise about the apocalyptic times! For our next manga review, here is Myayr to tell us about

Rowrbrazzle #156, fur shur!

Arigato! Since 1984, Rowrbrazzle has been the quarterly APA (amateur press association) magazine purrtaining to furry fandom, funny animal anthropurrmorphic history, art and tales! Edited by Edd Vick, it is compurrised of comics, purrose tales, essays, articles, con reports, group discussions, editorials, letters, illustrations, photos, the APA’s meowmbership list and rules. This beautiful, diverse, massive issue is in three 8.5×11” stapled sections totaling the whopping 307 pages, 42 of which are in color, including the covers!

The supurrb front cover art is one of four illustrations by Resa Challender, and the back cover is graced by a bunny girl by David Lind, which is quite appurropurriate for this Year of the Rabbit! Sammiched betwixt those covers are wonderful contributions by many other brilliant artists, authors and journalists such as Edd, Michael Pena, Charles Garofalo, Simon Barber, Matt McAndrews, Thomas Milliorn, J W Kennedy, Kjartan Arnorsson, William Earl Haskell, Ken Marcinkevicus, Andrew Lytle, Niall Shapiro, Jeffrey H. Wood…

 … Tim Fay, Kristin Fontaine, Mark Ashworth, Steven F. Scharff, Kurt Wilcken, Robert Alley, Ed Pegg, Jr., Don Chisholm, Charles Brubaker (who also contributed a dandy 4.25 x 5.5” postcard), our friend Melody Rondeau (whose lovely illustrations grace our island’s Mewseum of Art), Gary Fields (who contributed a signed packet of fourteen 2.5 x 3.5” amewsing Flophouse Friends cards), and Taral Wayne, whose illustrated 48 page Fraggle Rock fanfic compurrises the entire 2nd section of the zine!

The works of many other folks  from around the world and across the decades are examined too! In addition to the leporidae and Fraggles, this issue’s kemonomimi, monsters and anthropurrmorphic entities of many species include feline, canine, vulpine, lupin, cervid, equine, bovine, purrimate, porcine, ursid, cetacean, chiropteran, mephitidae, mustelidae, muridae, procyonidae, sciuridae, testudine, rhino, insecta, gastropod, piscine, avian, arachnid, ailuridae, alligatoridae, demons, dinosaurs, cryptids, fey, flora fungi and mecha!

As mewsual, Roowrbrazzle continues too be quite the purrofoundly splendiferous treasure trove that is rather entertaining, informative, and culturally enlightening, so I will give it the highest purraise! The first of seven new pics by Melody“Barking up the Wrong Tree”! in this Doctor Who fan art, eleven  incarnations of that titular Time Lord have been transformed into anthropomorphic cat people who have been treed by the Doctor’s robot dog K9! This is even more of an ailuranthropic (and whimsical) perdicament than when the 7th Doctor  mutated in to the Cheetah Person in the 1989 “Survival” episode!

“Doctor Hue” is more of Melody’s Doctor Who fan art, in whch the 6th incarnation of The Doctor is not just painting the impurrressionstic image of the cat, but seems to be actually painting on the cat! Although that Doctor would appurr to be the cat lover, or at least the cat pin collector (as evidenced by the pin upon the lapel), the Gray Tabby does not seem to share in the enthusiasm for the art!

You know, The Doctor has been the friend to several famous artists, such as Leonardo da Vinci (in the 1978 epurrsode “City of Death”), and Vincent van Gogh (in the 2010 epurrsode “Vincent and the Doctor”)! The Doctor was the museum curator in the 2013 episode “The Day of the Doctor”, and In the 2018 epurrsode “Rosa”, the Doctor teased that she might be the secret identity of the artist known as Banksy!

“Hansel” is Melody’s fan art of the 1812 fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel by The Brothers Grimm, nyan! In that tale, the brother and sister were trapped in an evil witch’s edible house, but in this pic  the siblings are eating her out of house and home, nyan!  The chocolate single-panel shutters, the sugar wafer chimne and the ice cream cone exterior sconce are the rather appurrtizing architectural elements, nyan!

Fourthly of Melody’s beautiful whimsical art is “Love”, in which the purretty Green Water Horse is love stricken over the catgirl’s cute inflatable floaty ring; nyan! It is also quite sexy with the alluring Golden Tabby nekomimi in the Purrple front-tie halter-neck bikini; and yet it has the bittersweet quality too, as we suspect that both the catgirl and the Water Horse will be unhappy if / when that float gets deflated, nyan,

The 6th of Melody’s pics is “Happy”, which commeowmerates the Year of the Rabbit, nyan! In the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Tiger ended on 21 January, 2023, and thusly the next day began the Year of the Rabbit, and so to commeownce  the annual remewal cycle, the venerable Father Time Tiger with a lovely lantern crook is auspiciously succeeded by an eager Bunny Baby Mew Year, with the “Gong-hei fat choy” wish for a purrospurrous future, nyan!

“Dinothor” is Melody’s anthropurrmorhic purrody of Marvel Comics’ Thor, the heroic Norse God of Thunder, nyan! According to  the Marvelous mythology, inscribed in large, friendly Nordic runes upon the cheek of the meowgickal hammer Mjolnir is the legend succinctly that succintly states that ”Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor”, and thusly this mpurressively clever fan art appurrs to answer the question of what if a Triceratops worthily grasped the divine weapon, nyan!

Well, that Heesen 5600 built in the Netherlands is far more extravagant, 125’ longer and 25 years younger than my Hatteras 60 which was bult in here in North Carolina, but I bet that TsuriNekoMimi has brought home more big fish, nyan!

Both of those yachts certainly have the beautiful, smart, wise, strong, brave, gallant captains! Well, I reckon  that will do it for this edition of The Mew!
