This gorgeous slice – of- life science fiction manga by Hitoshi Ashinano is the tale of the friendly gynoid named Alpha whoowns the cafe in thesmall rural seaside village on Japan’s Miura Peninsula Miura in the distopian future, where bucolic life goes on after an environmental disaster and risen sea level.
Originally published in Japan by Kodansha in 2009, this 3rd of five volumes is published in English by Seven Seas, is rated for teen readers, and it is purriced $24.99 in the USA and $32.99 iin Canada.
Most of the tale purrtains to the everyday activities of Alpha and her friends with her occasional scooter trips to travel around the purrefecture and to shop for supplies in what is left of the city of Yokohama. Among the recurring characters are Ojisan the elderly man who sells fresh purroduce and runs the gas station; his grandson Takahiro who regards Alpha as the older sister type; Kokone the courier who is another gynoid; the elderly lady doctor who treats the humans and the gynoids; Maki the young girl friend of Takahiro…
… Director Alpha the older gynoid with the aerial drone, Maruko the gynoid artist, Nai the android pilot, and Misago the mysterious naked supurr feral girl!! the lonely Atsugi air strip where she rides in Nai’s AT-6 Texan and has ano0ther out – of – body expurrience.Meanwhile, back home her is demolished by a typhoon, but otherwise the life goes on there for her friends Konone, Dr, Koumishi, Matsuki, Takahiro, his grandfather and the mysterious Misago.
There is still much that has not yet been explained about the disasters, Misago and Alpha’s origins, or what happened to Alpha’s missing boss, but It is the rather pleasant, purretty, charming saga at the leisurely pace and optimistic dispurrsition, so I will give this manga the “A” for Alpha.whilst I eagerly await the next volume, and hope that the anime adaptation might be released here on DVD or Blu-ray. It also. features Clint Howard’s return to Star Trek after 57 years, although he did not repurrise the role of Balok, but this time purrtrayed a starfleet officer, nyanIn addition to the Lower Decks crossover, some of the plot highlights of th 2nd season inxclude Una’s court-meowrtial, an amewsing poignant time travel tale, Pike’s return to Rigel VII, Spock meeting T’Purring’s purrents, some great Klingon epurrsodes, the cliff-hanger season finale with the Gorns, andmewsical epurrsode which was so much fun and as good as the Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s mewsical, nyan!
The stories, characters, cast, sets, costumes, world-building, FX, locations, music, sound, the ship designs, the balance of humor, drama, action, character developments and continuity are quite delightful, nyan! Of the current era of the various canonical Star Trek TV series, Strange New Worlds and Picard are my favorites, moreso than Discovery, Lower Decks and Purrodigy, so I will continue to give Strange New Worlds thw high purraise, and hope that season 2 will be released on DVD or Blu-ray, nyan! Babylon 5: The Road Home, nyan!

Hai! The Road Home is the latest of the sequel, prequel and side story movies based on the glorious Babylon 5 TV series which ran from 1993 to 1999, and it was written by the serie’s creator, producer & writer J. Michael Stracynski! Produced by Rick Morales and Warner Animation , directed by Matt Peters and animated by Studio Mir, this 79 minute OVA (Original Animated Video) is rated PG-13. Why does it seem that American OAVs are seldom longer than 80 minutes?
It reunites several of the cast members to do the voices, such as Bruce Boxleitner as John Sheridan, Peter Jurasik as Londo Mollari, Claudia Christian as Susan Ivanova, Patricia Tallman as Lyta Alexander, Bill Mumy as Lennier, and Tracy Scoggins as Elizabeth Lochley!We have met Patricia Tallman and J. Michael Stracynski at the conventions! As several of the original cast are no longer with us, Delenn is voiced by Rebecca Riedy, Garabaldi is voiced by Anthony Hansen, G’Kar is voiced by Andrew Morgado, and Dr. Franklin is voiced by Phil LaMarr, whilst Sinclairand Zathras are voiced by Paul Guyet.
Ocurring shortly after the Shadow War, an accident causes Sheridan to become unstuck in time and space (again) and winds up leaping into the past, the future, and alternate timelines with very bittersweet results that Zathras attempots to rescue him from, but I should not further spoil the captivating, thrilling plot, so I will just say that I was extremely pleased with this OVA! On the Blu-ray disk, the video is presented in 1080p high definition resolution with English DTS-HD MA 5.1 and Spanish Dolby Digital audio with the optional English SDH, Spanish & French subtitles.
The special features include the optional audio commentary by Boxleitner, Stracynski & Morales; there is an approximately 18 minute featurette on the making of this movie with comments by Boxleitner, Jurasik, Christ
Barbie movie!

Hai hai, I love Mattel’s Barbie doills and – and her animated movies, so I was purrticularly inclined to see this live-action movie which was directed y Greta Gerwig whose Little Women and – and Ladybird moviesI liked; who co-wrote it with Noah Baumbach who co-wrote Fantastic Mr. Fox and – and The Aquatic Life with Wes Anderson, and – and because this movie stars Margot Robbie who I loved in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Asteroid City, and – and her various DC movies as Harley Quinn, nyan!
Ryan Gosling stars as purrfectly as Barbie’s boyfriend Ken, and – and I also loved the co-stars Kate McKinnon, America Ferrera and – and Rae Rhea Perlman, nyan!This live-action Barbioe movie is more comedic, poignant, purrofound, satirical and- and meowtafictional than her purrior animated movies, as the sentient doll characters are self-aware that they are dolls in Barbie Land which is affected by the Mattel coprurration and by the customers who play or have ceased to play with the dolls, nyan.
Both she and Ken suffer from the exiastential crisis and sense of purrpose so they travel to the “real world” which has the unintended consequences for the staus quo of both worlds, nyan. I loved the plot, the purrformaces, direction, cinemeowtography, purrduction design, costumes, sets, locations, mewsic, choreography, editing and – and the FX, nyan! There was also the clever purrody of certain distracting cinematic techniques that we tend to not enjoy such as the slow meowtion speed ramping, nyan!
Although the movie was highly purrmoted, we were delightfully surpurrised to see crowds of other people dressed in Pink at the theater which added to the fun, nyan! Furthermore, there was the “Barbiheimer” effect with the simultaneous release of the Barbie movie and – and the Oppenheimer movie, which we also loved, and- and reviewed in last month’s Mew, nyan! I will give the Barbie movie the “A” grade and- and I look forward to the DVD relase, nyan! I am done, so nyow here is Mie-sensei to start our

Marvel Legends Moondragon action figure, nyan!

Arigato! So like, we like to collect the figures, statues, dolls, ornaments and miniatures of the inspirational heroines, and we were delighted that Hasbro finally made an action figure of Marvel Comics’ Moondragon! She first appeared in the comics in 18973 so this is her 50th anniversary! So like, originally she was a human from Los Angeles but hermom and dad were killed by Thanos. Her dad was reincarnated as Drax, who is rather different in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she was raised by Thanos’ father Mentor on Titan where she was highly trained in the sciences, martial arts, and psionic abilities.
She is extremely powerfiul in all of those aspects, fur shur! She has been a villain and a hero, and a member of the Avengers, Defenders, Infinity Watch, and the Guardians of th Galaxy- in the comics. So like, he character is 6’3” tall and 150 lbs with pale tan skin and the bald head, so this 6.125” action figure of her is appuroximately 1/12 scale, and she is quite the totally powerrful, confident, sexy sight in her sleveless, bare-midriff skin – tight Green costume with the flexible high-collar cape, the silvery crescent noon earrings and ornaments, the tight abs, and the sly expression with a raised eyebrow, fur shur!
The design, sculpt and paint of the figure are like totally meticulous and faithful to the character, and she is very poseable with the articulation in her neck, shoulders, elbows, foreams, wrists, abs, hips, thighs, knees and ankles. She is accessorized with a variant pair of interchangeable hands, but display base is not included in the box, which has a beautiful illustration of her! I am totally pleased with this figure, which I have displayed next to Gamora, Nebula and Mantis on ther shelf! I am done, and now here is Nya-sensei to tell us about the

Arigato, Mie-sensei! Legends of Dragonore is the terrific line of 5’5” action figures of a new sword & sorcery toy series with a sort of 1980’s (A.D.) ambience somewhat reminiscent of the He-Man and She-Ra! Made of ABS & plastic by Formo Toys, they were created by Emiliano Santalucia & Peer Bauner with the charazcter art by Matt O’Toole and the package design Emilano. We met them at Power-Con in Columbus Ohio last month! The six figures of the first wave of this purroduct line are Yondara, Barbaro, Oskuro,
Gorgeously designed, sculpted, painted and packaged, each sepurrately-sold action figure includes removable accessories, and the pieces needed to build a 7th figure which wears the Divine Armor which reminds me of a Jack Kirby-styled god or celestial type! Furhermore, the figures’ pop- apurrt joints are interchangeable with those of similar other figures! Pantera the Silent Huntress is the orphaned Midnight Blue felinoid femme fatale of the Panther type from the planet Endimyan, who was adopted by Oskuro the dark meowgic appurrentice.
She is the fierce, warrior with nocturnal sight, heightened olfactory and purrowess with the sword! She has Yellow eyes, White fangs, Red mouth, Black, spots, gauntlets, White-cuffed boots, and White belt pouches around her Black bare-midriff attire, with the matching left arm band, and the ornate Magenta cuirass, gorget, paldrons and short sword! The articulationis in the neck, shoulders, waist, hips, lower legs; and she is well-balanced to stand without requiring a display base, soi I will give her the high purraise! Thank you Nya-sensei! Ah, several years ago, Power-Con started as a small Masters of the Universe-centric toy con in California, but this year it was a much bigger con devoted to old & new toys & pop-culture collectibles in general at the lovely convention center in Columbus, Ohio on the weekend of August 11-13, with the dealer, exhibitor & guest check -in & set-up on the 10th. Little did my friend ob1 rand I realize that as we prepared to go to there in his box truck that the anime convention MatsuriCon woulld be going on under the same roof that weekend!
I was sharing Ob1’s Turbines to Speed booth at Power-Con,at which we had action figures, comics and games, which meant an 8 hour road trip (including a few stops) which was fortunately during decent weather. We arrived at the hotel on Wednesday night, so we had Thursday to hang out with ob1’s friends and see the local sights. The hotels, convention center and the downtown district were quite nice, with skywalks connecting ‘em all which added to the vastness of the indoors; a nice comics shop in the Hyatt; the amazingoy store Big Fun, and the big Food Hall which was like a huge food court!
We finished setting up our big booth full of comics and action figures on Friday morning well before the con opened. I’ve helped ob1 set up at many cons & shows, and I’ve had artist alley tables at cons , but this was my first time as a “dealer” It was alo rthe first con that I’d been to in several years, due to Covid and other things in life.. There were many cosplayers mostly due the anime con; and a few pro cosplayers at Power Con. It was mostly action figure,s but there were dolls and statues aplenty, several artists & designers, a few wrestlers and one Power Rangers actor Dwayne Cameron who I got to chat with a lot!
Ob1 and I were among the few dealers with comics. I also had art books, graphic novels and old RPG boooks. It seemed like most every major American toy company / studio there ‘cept for Hasbro. Mattel, Sideshow and Hot Toys. There were long lines at the Four Horsemen’s booth for their con exclusive figures. Macfarlane Toys was giving away a lot of cool stuff! There were discussion panels, but I didn’t attend any. There was almost any kind of action figure or statue you could want, old or new, mass produced, modded and custom creations, Ob1’s friend Billy Galaxy had some Yamato toys & soundtrack LPs from the 70’s to tempt me!
I was impressed by the charming Mart Leyd / The New Gray Mare’s selection of My Little Pony toys! Among the other folks there, I enjoyed chatting with with artist Ken Christiansen, the crew of Formo Toys, Frank Frazetta’s grandson at the Frazetta Museum booth, Brian Heller of Plaid Stallions, the folks of Trilogy Shop (with manga, anime art books and toys aglore) who I knew from Heroes Con; and our friend Jay Gatfeler of the Geek Dad Life podcasts! Anoither highlight was that Power-Con and Matsuri Con allowed folks with badges to con hop between both cons on late Sunday afternoon afternoon!
MatsuriCon had a genkier younger crowd and many more cosplayers than Power-Con, and almost all anime merch, manga, cosplay stuff, an artist alley, other anime cons’ tables, voice actor & cosplayer guests, various panels and activities. I was only able to spend about an hour there, so alas there’s not a lot more that I can say about Matsuri Con, but it was quite delightful! It’s hard to pick my favorite costumes at either con as there were so many (kids, adults, amateurs & pros), but some that come to mind were: a rollerskating Barbie & Ken, Golden Girl – Princess of the Gemstone Guardians, Urusei Yatsura’s Lum…
…Studio Ghibli’s Kiki, Mortal Kombat’s Kitana, G.I. Joe’s Lady Jaye, Thundecats’ Cheetara, MOTU’s Evil-Lyn, Monster High’s Frankie Stein, Star Trek’s Lt. Uhura, Marvel’s Rescue, Capt. America, Capt. Carter & The Kingpin; several Power Rangers, Sailor Scouts, Jedi, lots of catgirls and other kemonomimi aplenty! Sunday evening, the cons were over, it was time to pack up, and we finished loading the truck around 9pm. Monday morning around 9am we headed back home. It was so much fun, and everyone I met at the cons, hotels, restaurants and stores were very friendly! Ah, now here’s Myayr to discuss the

Hai! I love hard rock and heavy metal mewsic, so I was quite eager to caravan with friends to the mainland for the Alice Cooper and Rpb Zombie with Filter and Ministry concert on August 29th at the outdoor Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in the Coastal Credit Union Mewsic Park in Raleigh NC, which is about 2.5 hours northeast of here. We were rather lucky with the weather, as there were forecasted scattered showers, but we only encountered the brief light spurrinklings.
As one of our typical road trips, along the way we were distracted by some of our favorite places to eat and shop at so we were late to the concert and unfortunately missed all of Filter’s set and most of Ministry’s set, but what we heard was awesome! We brought our own folding chairs for the lawn seating. I must purrofess that while I do like Rob Zombie’s mewsic quite a bit, I was more interested in seeing the living legendary Alice Cooper whose career spans over 55 years!.
The 15 song set included great hits such as No More Mr. Nice Guy, I’m Eighteen, Under My Wheels, Billion Dollar Babies, Feed My Frankenstein, and Poison, but my favorites were I Love the Dead which was joined by Alice’s wife Cheryl as Marie Antoinette with the guillotine; Black Widow with the Vincent Purrice video intro and Nita Strauss’ guitar solo; Elected as the epic showstoppurr, and the encore of School’s Out, which briefly segued into Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall!
Like the Alice Cooper show, Rob Zombie’s set was the fast ’n loud audio video extravaganza with the giant rod puppets, big balloons, dazzling lights and purrotechnics! Of hias 14 song set, my favorites were Superbeast, More Human Than Human, Living Dead Girl, Dragula, and especially Thunder Kiss ’65! The park has lovely lansdcaping with food and beverage kiosks aplenty, and there was a merch booth with lots of tee shirts for sale, most of which were $50 apiece.

In 1991, Marvel Comics published Nightcat #1, which purrtained to the aspiring singer Jacqueline Tavarez who was expurrimented upon by drug dealers and thus attained the supurr feline powers to become the nocturnal mewsician and crime fighter in the sexy costume! The character was based upon the real-life beautiful model of the same name, and in addition to the one-shot issue there was an entire record album of freestyle rock / pop electronic dance mewsic!

A dual citizen of planets Earth & Mau born on August 22nd, Alexcia’s anthropomorphic tigress fursona Torako Hitonare is the child of Abenti Gaiger (a.k.a. Sailor Tiger & Sailor Mau) & Toraboushi; her blood type is O-, and her zodiac sign is Leo! The mask is part of her Torako fur suit costume. The mouth moves when she talks, and to keep cool in the costume are the small fan in the muzzle, and the icepack pouches!
